The 1965 SUZUKI T10 |
|
| The T10 was the first twin cylinder to be designed for
export to the world. The first bikes were shipped to London, England October 1963 and made
available to the motorcycle press for test rides. Most reviews were good, such as the
Motorcycle News had a headline The T10 is like a Rolls Royce on two wheels, very
smooth power, soft suspension, self starter, indicators and hydraulic rear brake,
all not found on British Bikes at that time. However, sales were slow due to styling and a
price of 248 pounds, 17 shillings compared to the Ariel Arrow at 192 pounds. |

| In 1966, the T10 was discontinued and the T20 was born
and none of the T10 was carried over. It was a short lived model, which is why there is
very small number of bikes left in England and less in North America This bike was found
in Salem, Ontario. It had been in a shed for some 33 years and was looking very poorly !!
My research revealed it was purchased new in 1965. I have only found one other example in
Ontario. There are a couple of differences from the British models, such as: the rear
brake is not hydraulic, different indicators, rear light assembly and the colour. It was
black or white for England, red or blue for North America. |

| As far as I know, I have restored it to it`s original
condition (or better) and enjoy riding it. Two other owners in England helped me with
research and locating parts and manuals. |
